Cal Ripken, Jr. and Dr. Ronald Tutrone

This year marks the 25th anniversary of Cal’s record-setting 2,131st consecutive game, beating the previous record of 2,130 set by the legendary Lou Gehrig. Cal went on to play an additional 501 games before finishing his baseball career with 2,632 consecutive games, still the undefeated record.

Recently the 21-year Major League veteran revealed that earlier this year he was diagnosed with, and successfully treated for, prostate cancer. About Ronald Tutrone, M.D.

Dr. Tutrone is Chairman of the William E. Kahlert Endowment for Urological Research and Medical Director of Chesapeake Urology Research Associates. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry from the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, MA, and completed his urology residency at Brigham & Women’s Hospital /Harvard Medical School. He has been voted a “Top Doctor” by Baltimore magazine 12 times, and a “Super Doctor” for urology in the Washington Post Magazine. Dr. Tutrone has authored numerous articles in the urology literature, and has been principal investigator in more than 250 clinical research trials.
